Default Column / Mirror Memory Control Module (Improved?)

Hi. A question regarding Steering Column motion. If this is addressed elsewhere, my apologies, couldn't find it.

My steering column has stopped moving up and down. (Just clicks). (it does retract in and out). (Also, of course, won't respond to the Memory positions).

The mechanic stated I'd need a new Column Tilt Motor part JLM20194.

Upon researching JLM20194, I found a service bulletin 10-12 ( you can read it here: http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/...r%20Seized.pdf
which states, "
An improved column/mirror movement control module (C/MCM) is now available for the above vehicles, which incorporates electronic sensing of the end stop of the steering column tilt mechanism. This bulletin provides a revised repair procedure which involves replacing the tilt motor and changing to the improved C/MCM. This action will provide a more effective repair."

At the end of this bulletin, it references PARTS INFORMATION: Tilt motor modification kit JLM 20607 includes:
1 - Steering column tilt motor (JLM 20194)
- Column/Mirror Memory Control Module

I've read elsewhere, if you don't replace the C/MCM when you replace the motor, the new motor will fry out again.

In the bulletin, there is no part number listed for the C/MCM by itself. The new/combo part number JLM 20607 leads me nowhere on google.
I can find the motor JLM 20194 all day online. But I only see used C/MCMs pulled mostly from XJ6's, that "seem" to state they will work in my XJ12, and have these part numbers: LNA2110BA or LNA2110BB.

So, my question: If I buy used, how do I know if I'm buying the "
improved column/mirror movement control module"? Maybe the stripped modules online are the previous "non-improved" versions. How can I tell if I'm buying 'improved' or 'not-improved'?
Anyone know the difference between LNA2110BA and LNA2110BB?
Any input appreciated!
thanks Shawn.

ps, bonus question. Will replacing this C/MCM make my memory seat programming work? I'm using the previous owner's memory positions...

A photo of a used Control Module available online. Improved or not?

All I rremember from when I was with Jag, Parts Manager.

LNA2110BA, was superceded to LNA2110BB.

My assumption would be that the BB is the next generation module, BUT, there was never mention of other items needing changing to install it.

Any part that was "updated" and required "this and that" to be installed AT THE SAME TIME, was always clearly stated, and usually in RED so you could not miss it.

My "R" had issues with that module, and I sourced a known good used BA (lotsa $$), its still in the shed, as my unplugging and replugging the BA in the car, while waiting for the BA to arrive, fixed the female moment it was having. Cars gone, module is still in the shed somewhere?, that could be a fun search.

This might help you??

Thank you Grant! I'll look for a 'BB'. ps, any idea - JLM20194 (the motor itself) - will it work in the 1996 XJ12? All of the links online seem to indicate 1998 - 2003, although one link I found said it would work (but was out of stock). Looking for second opinion.

JLM20194 is listed as the Tilt motor, all models.

JLM12187 is the Reach Motor, all models.

My Jag Parts Cat states same part number 1995 to 2003. UP TO Vin # F59525.

I would jump that motor, before throwing $$ at it, it may work OK, just the Module having a moment.

Default Thank you!

Wanted to say thank-you Grant, I replaced the motor and while in there saw the module was the BA version. Swapped in a BB version. All working now! Thanks.
