Default Sapphire Blue X305 on BaT

No affiliation, but thought this would be of interest to the forum.

Made me feel almost shameful about my paint until I found out it was a respray! The suede headliner is a nice touch and I might just consider that myself now. Absolutely beautiful example and cant wait to see the result!

Exactly like mine but less shabby FS in LA on CL, been sitting for a couple of years after owner died apparently - $14750...be interesting to see the actual BaT price of the online auction xj12 (few cars on that site are trailer projects despite name...) the low production number/rarity of these cars appear to be attracting investment buyers a bit more these days, at least in theory...

As usual shiny paint and clean exterior camouflage the achilles heels of these cars - bushings, ball joints, shocks, elderly rubber oil and coolant lines, fuel lines...

WELL... look who's in the market! No, not me. That's not my market anymore! Lots of time left too.

I think I will put 18" wheels on my car. But all the good Jag wheels are taken. There's basically no after-market for wheels except for full custom made. Oh well.

Page bookmarked....

My sapphire blue has around 70,000 miles on it. I would be tickled pink to get $14,500.

Not sure what NAS is.
You didn't notice the chrome grill?
Leaper vandalized and missing when purchased.
Nothing on the carfax concerning grill replacement with an XJ6 grill.
Wheels came with car when purchased.
It is identical to the rest of the fleet.

Maybe this one works better.

Yes, the second photo is better, it is actually the blue car. 20-spoke, black grille, leaper, like all North American Spec cars!

First one is British Racing Green I believe. But my mind was seeing it as blue at first because that's what I expected to see when told it was your blue car! Must have been optioned with those wheels and grille from new. Some owners don't like the black, but I do. I also like the chromed turbines, much less common in the US.

Whomever wins that auction (i.e. John) is going to have to Bring a Trailer of Cash! But a small trailer should do. Maybe people are starting to notice that this is a very rare car. It's about time.

Hey 1 in 19, do any of your cars have fluted front and rear trim? Not sure why mine is and something tells me you would know the story on that.

Thanks

John

I'm not trying to win it! Though I would have upgraded to its 10k fewer miles and not-cracked lacquer if I could have for 14.

One of mine has a fluted grill and no idea why. Personally I don't care for it. Possibly special order?

$23,250 closing price. I was thinking it might make $25k. The interesting car market might be on a tear right now, but also 723715 is an exceptional copy.

I was also watching with bated breath! Exciting to see that they are beginning to be appreciated and that my college grad gift to myself wasn't the dumbest financial decision ever!

A slightly bigger little Trailer of Cash will be needed! A worthy result for an excellent example.

An all original car in outstanding condition could fetch even more since it would have the ability to win concours events.

There was A LOT of interest in this car. I think many had all but forgotten about it until now. This car broke new ground on BaT and will probably be more sought after.

Great way to kick off the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend! (where's our Union Jack emoji?)

There it is.

Wow 23K!? I’d be happy to get less than half that for mine. Hope I don’t get in trouble saying this, but if anyone is interested in a 96 green LWB contact me

Too bad it was a scam with at least one MIA shill bidder!! Now the seller can work his way back down the bidders list to get into a more reasonable territory. But probably still north of $20k. BaT should give him another chance at auction if a second-chance buyer isn't found.

I'm pretty sure the seller didn't pay $24k for this car a few months ago with flipping in mind, but he almost got it done here.

Hey John, one of the commenters thought the 17" Solar wheels would look good on this car... I do agree! I also still like my Laminas better than the Pentas on that auction car.

A real bidder made a deal with the seller after the closing fake high bid of $30,000. The new buyer didn't say how much, but his highest bid during the auction was $24,000. So it looks like it might have made even money with the auction last year. I would ask him but I don't have a BaT account.

Interesting... he wants the original rims for the car. I know where he can get four of them!!

Very good auction. I paid $900 for mine. About to rebuild the power steering system. That’ll be… more than $900 thats for sure.
