Default 2005 XJR cooling hoses

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing cooling hoses swelling and bursting? I have had to replace a heater return hose that failed and when on vacation a small hose from thermostat area to overflow tank also went and lost all my antifreeze on a Sunday morning on way home. I have just ordered all the smaller hoses from intercooler and heater so I don't get stranded. That cost alone was over $500C.

No problems like that yet on my 05 XJR at 65,000 miles. How many miles on your car?

I had problems with mine at 4.5 years of age. Mileage at that time was about 60000 km (not miles). Changed all my hoses and some other coolant system issues, like the radiator (crack), thermostat (precautionary) and the fan too. My real problem turned out to be the fan, which was turning, but not a fast as it should have been. Been good since then (as far as cooling goes... the air suspension is a whole other story...)

This just happened on my 2005 SV8, huge hole in a big fat hose, not sure which one it is but in the center front and high up, almost visible with the cover removed . The car is waiting in the shop till Tues. The independent mechanic though the hose wall looked pretty skimpy.

BTW, how did you identify which hoses to replace for preventive maintenance?

I have a copy of parts catalogue and am replacing all the small hoses, I hope. Will see once I get them this week and start replacing. The 2 hoses that went seemed very thin walled and somewhat soft, so I am concerned about taking long trips until I replace them. Could also ask dealer to confirm a list of all hoses on the car.

The workshop that did my car, (not a Jag dealer) recommended that if a few were giving way, it's best to change all of them as they would all be made of similar construction so they would probably all be about time to go. I felt it wasn't worth the trouble to keep sending the car in every few months, so I changed as many as I could buy locally. When they did the change of hoses, indeed, many of them were very soft and were likely to be on their last legs, so I think it was reasonably sound advice.
