I went to look at this 2006 Super V8 Portfolio this morning down in Ohio. I found a few rust/corrosion spots on the vehicle which made me reconsider wanting to make an offer on the vehicle. I was under the impression that aluminum vehicles don't rust. Is this a common issue with the x350?
I also noticed the front bumper on the passenger side was resprayed. The rear suspension also looks like it needs an overhaul with the bushings, etc.
What you have seen is the classic aluminium corrosion syndrome called "crevice or filiform" It occurs in the absence of oxygen, unlike steel rusting that relies on it. It is a bit of a nuisance as it looks unsightly, but is generally not something that is going to affect the integrity of the car. I had the same corrosion and in the same place as yours on my last car, and it was present on my current X358, but is now dealt with. You have to scrape out all the white powder, which is aluminium hydroxide, and get down to bare aluminium. Paint on zinc-rich primer, then ordinary primer, then make the surface level with acrylic stopper. Flat off and finish as normal with base and clear coats.

you might also consider treating the area with alodine prior to the zinc (which IMO isn't required if you alodine). Alodine is more expensive: https://www.ellsworth.com/products/b...ing-40-ml-pen/ For a quick example ! didn't shop it.
Technically it's not rust because yes aluminum doesn't rust. But it does corrode. Stuff like that on aluminum is more of a cosmetic concern whereas rust on a steel car would become a structural issue and spreads much faster.
