2008 Air Suspension Conversion
I bought a kit to convert air suspension from www.strutmasters.com I got the kit, installed it as per the instructions and now I have 2 warning lights that wont go away.
1. air suspension fault - the code indicates communication failure (well
duh, the module is unplugged)
2. cats system fault - not sure what this is
does anyone know how to get rid of these codes?
Thanks

I assume your suspension is now the normal type of spring and shock absorber with
no electrical connections.
The Jaguar air strut consists of a solenoid valve at the top of each strut (with two
small wires plugged into the strut), and this enables the CATS system operate with a 5 volt signal, on or off which equates to the "hard " and "soft" settings.
This system is now redundant and therefore you have the warning light.
I believe that you will be able to extinguish the warning by connecting a resistor
across each of the two Cats wires (100 ohms?) but search this forum (via Google is best in my experience) for details.
I believe Arnotts give advice about how to overcome the warning lights and it may be that Strutmasters do the same if you ask.

Tkeeling, here is the post regarding using a resistor to eliminate the warning lights. Cambo351 shows a picture of how to install the resistor. Cambo351 says here that you could simply terminate the connections by putting some resistors in the plugs, at least 5.4Ohms and capable of 65watts. I know of at least one S-Type where the resistor trick has worked, he used 10Ohm resistors. This stopped the error messages. See the link below.

This is the issue with the later model X350's and the coilover conversion, on the earlier models if you pulled the Air Suspenson Module then there were no errors or warning lights, but the later models have this problem.
I don't know if Arnott has managed to find a workaround for this, I think if there was an easy soluton we would have heard of it by now.
The issue is two part.
1. Air Suspension Fault.
The module needs to be plugged in, and it needs to "think" that everything is OK.
That means the height sensors need to be connected, and the vehicle within the calibrated ride height.
The module needs to see that there is sufficient air pressure in the reservoir (output signal from pressure sensor).
The module needs to see that the six solenoids are there (i.e not open circuit)
The module needs to see that the compressor is fitted (i.e. not open circuit)
So it's a matter of shorting out the connections (probably with resistors as a dummy load), and making a "fake" signal to the pressure sensor input, to trick the ASM into thinking that there is air in the reservoir.
I don't know what the output signal is, maybe 0-5V, or 0-1V, or maybe something else.
It's not impossible, but requires a bit of testing, and a signal generator to emulate the pressure sensor.
2. CATS fault
Firstly this is caused by the ASM being disconnected, but if you reconnect it you will still see the fault unless you terminate the leads with resistors as previously mentioned.
I'm surprised that Arnott or one of the other suppliers of coilover conversions hasn't fixed this yet...

You probably missed it being discussed recently but Arnott now have a solution, called an EBM, the brown connector in this picture.
I also found a full set of Arnott Springs at Partstrain.com for $990. May be time to purchase a set I think... Don't know if it comes with the EBM though?

Cambo351,
Ok, I see that Arnott does sell the shocks with the EBM that will get rid of the warning lights.
My problem now is that they won't sell me the EBM it only comes in their kit! I already bought a kit and was assured by the salesperson that I wouldn't have any lights, and I know that this was simply not true!
so I need to fix my issue.
I reconnected the module that is behind the back seat (all 4 plugs) Air Suspension Fault goes away, but CATS warning stays on
Does anyone know where to buy a resistor that I can test on this? something locally like at an autozone or oreileys?

Something like this should do it
10W010 10 Ohms Cermet Power Wirewound Resistor : Resistors | RadioShack.com
10W010 10 Ohms Cermet Power Wirewound Resistor : Resistors | RadioShack.com
Maybe if we pestered Arnott customer services saying that we have previously purchased their products and would be happy to buy the EBM separately. They could make money that way too? Surely that makes business sense?
