Default 2008 super v8 shift issue

Odd coincidence as car is otherwise bullet proof
same day front left tire hit a significant pothole, the shifter would not release from park
Bolts on cable to transmission ( 2 ) are tight and accounted for underneath
Removed console cover to allow for manual override from park to reverse; getting to drive from reverse is recognized but does not engage forward motion unless you apply stronger pressure on shift lever to from R to D and then it engages forward motion
again bolts underneath intact and tight
Changed fuse F33 for jgate
is there a DIY I have not yet figured out ? no loose wiring connections that i can see at brake pedal under the dash
i was going to bring to transmission shop ( indiependent ) though i think not mechanical issue with transmission but rather electronic issue
pothole thump was pretty good....
anyone know any good jag independent shops south of Boston ; i am in 02043

Double check you haven't tripped the inertia switch on the LHS A pillar.

Mine does it on and off and I think it's the brake switch
In fact I have a spare and went to replace it but it seemed to cure itself
I think there are two colours green or blue-need to do some research on that
The switch is on the brake pedal

I believe that if the inertia switch has been trigggered, the engine will not start at all, which is not the case here. So I donot think that it is the inertia switch, but rather a problem with the electric block that the shifter has to avoid putting the car into drive from the park position without pressing the brake pedal.

Best regards,

Thomas

Thanks all for input
code is faulting as follows:
U0103 Lost Communication with Gear Shift Control Module A
I have googled what exactly that is and what appears is entire unit as shown below
anyone know if this item is technically the Gear shift Control Module A ( was hoping the "A" designates a component of below vs the entirety -

along the lines of above; does anyone have an installation guide on the replacement of the above part into the car
in the event i need to buy one i believe there is a connection to be made to the right side know as shown in picture; just want to be sure i properly install if the outgoing unit is not properly connected

Do you hear the switch activate when you move the lever from park to the right? Also would suspect connector issue rather than module. Did anyone ever spill a drink on the shifter.

Another thought: loosen transmission cable mount and re-tighten after moving to Drive then back to Park.
Position Sensor Monitoring
The TCM can identify errors with the position switch located within the transmission. If an
unrecognized position code is read by the TCM a plausibility fault will be logged. (A code is checked
between positions).
The position switch outputs a 4-bit code to the TCM, the bits being labelled L1-L4. For the
transmission, the following codes are used to identify the selector position.
Only for the automatic side of the J-GATE P,R,N,D
Selector position switch code
Position Code
L1 L2 L3 L4
Park 0 0 1 0
Reverse 0 0 0 1
Neutral 0 1 0 0
Drive 1 1 1 0
