2008 XJ with code 2431-2432
Hi
I may be interested in a 2008 Jaguar xj but it has code P2431 - Secondary air injection system air flow/pressure sensor circuit range/performance
▪ Secondary air injection pump/valve/pipework leaks
▪ Secondary air injection pump
▪ Secondary air injection valve
P2432 - Secondary air injection system air flow/pressure sensor circuit low
▪ Secondary air injection manifold pressure (MAP) sensor circuit: short circuit to ground
▪ Secondary air injection manifold pressure (MAP) sensor circuit: high resistance
Is that expensive to fix ? Shall I walk away from the purchase ?

From what I read the other day . The secondairy air injection pump is just for right after the start of the engine to pump additional air into the system to regulate for better cleaner emissions in the echaust gases
I own a 2008 XJ8L with persistent P2431 fault code. I replaced the air pump with a new relay, check valve, and purge control solenoid valve. I’ve also verified no breaks or leaks in both vacuum lines. I even cleaned the exhaust tubing using brake cleaner and compressed air. Each repair “phase” ended with the same P2431 code during engine starts. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

While this may only be of minor help as I don't know what the codes were, back when I had an '06 VDP, I had issues with the secondary air injection system that sound similar to yours and kept me from passing the Virginia emissions requirement. I no longer have the paperwork on what was done as I'm now back in an X308, but my recollection is the vacuum lines were replaced along with the valves and something electrical. I don't recall the pump being replaced. The total cost at a dealership was about maybe $1300-1500 if I recall.
