I have a 2008 XJ8L. I bought a coil spring conversion to replace the awful problematic air suspension. After installing the kit, I received 2 errors. They were Air Suspension Fault and Cats System Fault. The kit came with a module to get rid of these errors but they still come up when I start the car. I bought the kit from Suncore. When I emailed them, they said the 2008 XJ8 had a computer upgrade that renders their module ineffective. Any ideas on what to do from here? Thanks.
Your problem is not new, and as I recall, there was a thread on here about it a few years ago. The cure was to completely remove the Air Suspension Module as obviously it now has nothing to do. The later ASMs had the CATS included, so with ASM removal there is no longer anything to send error messages out. I think the ASM is at the back of the rear seats somewhere, so you have to take these out.
Sounds good. The module is indeed located behind the back seat. I know that because that's where the Suncore module attached to. I'll take it out and see if the error messages are still there when I start it up.
Didn't work. I unplugged the module, and now the errors are still there but the air fault suspension light comes on immediately instead of after a minute or so.
It would be worth double-checking all of your connections for the bypass module. The splice connectors that come with the kit sometimes need to be gently squeezed with pliers to pierce the insulation on the ASM wires.
If that doesn't work, I would ask Suncore why they didn't warn you in advance that their bypass module would not work in your car, since presumably you informed them that your car was a 2008 when you ordered the kit.
The module that came with my Arnott coil conversion kit worked fine in '08 VDP. I don't know if they will sell their module separately but worth a try.
somebody should probably tear it apart and figure out what they’re doing
Not surprisingly, the Arnott EBMs are epoxy potted so any attempt to disassemble them would destroy the circuitry. I tried measuring the wiring for resistance and transistor/diode junctions without any luck, but a person with more electronic knowledge might be able to figure it out. I was measuring with the EBM unpowered and out of circuit. Perhaps some measurements with it in circuit might be more helpful.
If you were Arnott, would you sell your EBMs separately to folks who purchased less-expensive coil conversion kits from another vendor? It wouldn't make any business sense.
If I recall correctly, the one Suncore kit I installed came with an EBM. I can't remember if I have installed a Strutmasters kit.
I installed this kit on my 2005 VDP a few years ago. Removed the air suspension relay and a 10 amp fuse, but can't remember where the fuse was but I got the info from this forum. Maybe different on 08. Never had a light.
As a side note, how is the ride quality with the coilover conversion?
In my own case, I can't compare the ride to a working air system, because I never had one. Mine would sag overnight, lift OK when started, then throw a code after two or three minutes. After that code, the ride was very harsh, even before it sagged again. Could not be happier with the ride on the Arnotts coils!

Hi Teriffic,
I'm going back through old air suspension threads to try and find out why I can't switch off the air suspension warnings on my 2005 XJ (its a X356 not a X350 and the software scan says its a 2006 Jaguar) and I see you managed to knock the lights off on your 2005 VDP (nice sounding car!). I've noted that my software was last updated in Sept 2006 to V34.95. What would yours be please (you can see when you connect a scan tool, it goes through the VIN scanning and comes up with your VIN and the software level). I've removed fuse 6 (40A orange) in the engine compartment and fuses F12 (10A red) and F52 (20A yellow) in the trunk but no relay. What relay was it you mentioned in 2021 please? I need to switch the warning lights off for the (imminent) annual inspection. Thanks, Nick, Dublin Ireland

I bought the coilover kit from Motorcars LTD for my 04 XJR many years ago. Ride comfort was excellent as well as ride height. I still have the air ride on my 09 SV8 and I can feel a difference only because I know what to look for. 99% of folks would never know the difference. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Hi, its not as smooth with the springs but many wouldn't notice the difference.
The big issue is I cannot switch off the U2524 code - which is no data received by the instrument panel from the air suspension module. Any ideas on that please? Thanks
Mine being an 04, the instructions to defeat the messages were included with the kit. I remember they included 2 resistors which I had to splice into the harness on the WABCO module behind the rear seat back. I cannot remember which ones and I didn't take a picture. I also had to short out the shock position sensors at each shock rod rod. I'm sorry the pictures aren't better. And I've looked in vain for the instructions. Too long ago. Shock position sensor shorted

Air ride module and harness
Hi - thanks - that's interesting. First I've heard of shorting out the wires to the top of the air springs. Interesting. And you've still got your air suspension module connected.
