2011-12 Nav discs now available
Perhaps this is old news but I have been checking intermittently and the new disc finally appeared on the Navteq site. Now the question is -- do I blow $200 on updating an old nav system without traffic, etc. or pick up a Garmin and deal with the clutter?

I have the 2010 Nav DVD that I got from someone on this forum for $30. Works great. However, I find an annoyance that every time I would put the radio on mute, when the nav voice prompt came on, it would un-mute the radio, then i would need to put the radio on mute again... drives me totally bunkers!
Is there a way to turn the radio off when the Nav is running?

SAys 2002 on the disk so I would have to say that is really outdated and for the NAV systems that were text based. Map based ones came out in 2004 for the XJ & S-Type.

And what's the source for these $30 ones I'm reading about?
I only use my Nav about twice a year so I'd be interested in purchasing the 2010 North American version from anyone who purchases the new one.
Thanks

Food for thought for those thinking of upgrading. I purchased a 2010 map update for my 04 XJ8 earlier this year. It's somewhat better than the original 04 map but not dramatically so. Best part about it is that it gave me the ability to enable/disable daytime lights from the nav screen. That's a useful feature when heading on a road trip. The Jag logo screen color changed from green, like the rest of my instruments, to black. It's a bit off-putting at first but I've gotten used to it. Don't know when XJ background lighting changed from green to black so perhaps this is a non-issue for many. Would I buy the update again if I had a do-over? Probably. Is it worth $200? Probably not.
