Factory size is actually 6.75".

You can fit any 6.5" aftermarket speaker, using speaker adaptors like I did in my X-Type. Have a look at PVC Speaker Adapters - CNC Machined - In Stock or Custom Made and there are pics of my install https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ade-faq-64614/

The midbass speakers are the same as what's used in the X-Type, and one of the guys said that Sony xplod bolted straight in https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-ideas-64972/

Should be getting the car back today or tomorrow and will take it appart my self as some of the people I spoke with told me they are 5.25" speakers. I will also be able to test everything myself.

FYI I picked up some 6.5inch Polk speakers after trying several different brands that were eithe too deep or too small. The Polks included adapter ring to make them bigger to fit inside the factory holes.

However oddly enough I think the factory Alpine speakers sounded better, so I stuck with those and returned the Polks.

I'm looking for replacement Alpine speakers (two rear and two from A post) for my 2001 XK8. Anyone know where to get them?

I fitted these TR600-CXi - Car Audio - Evolution® - TR - Coaxial Systems - JL Audio
to my XJR6 as the factory holes are 6 inch

They come in a range of sizes and are very sensitive so don't need huge power

When looking at replacement speakers I look at the SPL rating the the higher the db rating at 1 watt 1 meter means wont need huge amps to drive them

I also just bought these GTO428 | Superior 4 inch 2-way Coaxial Car Speakers | JBL US for the dash in my Renault van and these for the doors with adapters GTO628 | Concert-quality 6 1/2 inch 2-way Car Speakers | JBL US as replacement speakers very happy they are a huge increase in sound quality even in the van got them from Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers
fantastic prices as well and really happy with the JBL sound stuff used JBL in the Jeep as well
