Hi
I have an 04 XJR I'm at wits end
I've done lots to think it was fixed but not yet
My question is with the air intake hose
On the bottom of it it has like a thin cylinder pressed into it. It is not molded in Anyway does this cylinder have any function the hose?
Its part number 3 on this picture its the thing coming out of the bottom of the hose

Yes, a resonator I believe.
I don't think you can simply cap it off if that is what you are thinking of doing.

Hi
Well it was cracked around where it attaches to the intake hose so I wasnt sure the function but i silicon-ed the crack
Are you thinking that this piece maybe releases air from the intake or can breath air in?

Its solidly attached to the air intake tube. Should not suck in air or you will set a DTC.
If you siliconed the crack you should be ok.
Mine broke off half way. Wound up getting a replacement on the cheap after I epoxied the tube back in. No issues. Had it on for about a month before sourcing the replacement.
I have both air intake tubes as I swapped out the replacement for a Caldoofy intake.
