I ran over something on the freeway and knocked out a fog light that sits in front of the pump and the car immediately dropped. 4 hrs later I unplugged the positive cable and plugged it back in and the compressor came on for less than a minute and was hissing and sounding choked up and it cut off and would not cut back on. I replaced it with a used one and it came on and went right off. Any suggestions

 

Sounds like the strut is damaged and leaking.

 

I really don't think so because I've replaced shocks before. The car was fine until I hit something. I thought the pump my have needed replacing since it is behind the fog lamp. I am so puzzled!!

 

You said the car dropped immediately so you have a leak

if not the strut a damaged air line.

I just checked it with a diagnostic and it read PO414 Secondary Air Injection Switching Valve A Circuit Shorted.

 

AIUI secondary air injection is an engine system, nothing to do with the suspension.
