Anybody ever replaced the firewall padding?
On my '05 XJ8 L, Standing in front of the engine and looking back to the firewall at the top there is a firewall padding, mine has partially eroded? Anybody ever replaced there's? You can see what looks like push in tabs that keep in place? A couple of my tabs seem to even be missing. (Seem like the XK/XKR doesn't have a firewall pad, so I did specify this is a XJ8 L same engine bay as XJ8).

I recently removed the insulation to remove the plastic firewall, when replacing the valley hose. The insulation was hiding some of the push tabs and was also starting to deteriorate. I have yet put back the plastic firewall as it seems I may have to replace the EGR. I haven't really noticed any change in sound deadening or heat creeping in. I am thinking of replacing the insulation, prolly something cheap to cut.

The EGR is an exhaust gas recirculating valve that redirects some exhaust gases into the throttle body to be burner more completely. This can also be used to cool the cylinders. I may have damages mine when I removed it.

Been 18 months now and no issues.

Sounds good to me. In a month I will be replacing my valley hose and I already know my firewall padding will mostly disintegrate when I try removing it.
