Jah I love it. I can't believe how awesome it looks and the quality is simply superb. This gentleman over at britishautowood does some amazing work. The wood actually matches better then the factory knob does (which looks 3 shades lighter and plain) and the quality is better then factory. Trust me . His name is Saul and he is a very nice guy. I highly recommend him. He does custom work as well. Thinking about doing something with the plastic handle to sunroof shade. Wood or chrome I'm thinking... Any opinions in that btw would be welcomed. I will post pictures in a few minutes.... Thanks again chaps...

How much was the key fob?

 

I love it all! Are you sure you put the shift knob on right? It seems rotated. Having a shift knob emblem that wasn't lined up would be deal killer for me.

 

he gave me the key fob for 40$ !!! His name is Saul and honestly I know I sound like Im pitching him but I am just so happy at the quality of work I feel I should tell everyone.... What do you guys think about doing with the handle to the sunroof shade handle? should i get it chromed or see if Saul can do something with it and make it wood?

JAH btw how do I remove those pieces in the overhead console?. I was able to get the plastic piece around the shifter off but am afraid to break the top parts if I dont do it properly. What is your name btw if you dont mind me asking ... unless you like jah? Mine name is Joe if anyone cares.. lol

Mighty fine old boy, you need to give it a quarter turn anti-clockwise.

If it then is loose, a quick tip would be to wrap a skin of PTFE (teflon) tape around the gear stick and then re-screw it.

Dear god, I would not use loctite on that. You'll never be able to get it off again!

 

I used the tape and it worked like a charm... I wish I could give you guys a group hug LOLOL

 

You didn't need to use the tape. If you manipulate the silver nut below the knob, you can raise it up and then tighten the knob down. Play with it a bit and you will get it perfect and tight. I got mine at the end of last week and was able to get it lined up perfect and tight using the above method.

 

Depends on the type of loctite.

 

when working with a locknut it is less fiddly to just slacken the nut, run the knob down as far as it goes, back off to align, then run the locknut up against the knob while holding the knob in alignment.

 

As you said, I just used the locknut to fit this one to my old '91 XJ40.
It replaced an old black leather knob.
The supplier was a Canadian guy on Ebay.
It wasnt a bad match for the old veneer.
