audible warn when engaging Drive or reverse
I have a 2003 X350 and when I engage drive or reverse I get a really annoying audible tone. It is an irregular sound that goes away as oon as I reach approx 10mph. It appears to come from the steering coloumn area. It is not the sound you get with the parking sensors or the one from the seat belt warning.
any ideas many thanks best regards Phil

There is a beep that happens when you try to shift out of park without the brake pedal depressed... I wonder if somehow that beeper is not getting the brake signal. Obviously you're able to shift out of Park. Try pushing the lever out of Park without the brake, or even with the car shut off, and see if that's the same sound.
If that's it, as for fixing it I couldn't even begin to tell you where to start...
