I am a new owner, my 2005 XJ8 Jaguar has 65,900 miles BP is advertised to guarantee something about the engine, but you need to start using the product before 75,000 miles. They will only pay up to $2000 since i'm not the 1st owner. I'm not not a car tech, obviously. I used to get my last car (Prius) oil changed at a local place who ever advertised the $19 job, this BP is expensive, is it worth it?

 

Can you say snake oil?

Any oil meeting the Jaguar spec should be good enough and there are plenty of threads you can read about it...

 

Any synthetic oil of the correct viscosity (5w-30?) will do.

 

BP (British Petroleum) owns a controlling interest in CASTROL OIL so I guess that is why it is recommended by Jaguar.

I don't know of any other oil by the BP name.
