Default Broken light analog clock

HI all,

Should the analog clock on the dash be lighted just like everything else on the dashboard? And if so, is it possible to exchange the lamp?

The clock should have a green backlight, yes. The lighting is most likely LED and not replaceable. However if you're handy with a soldering iron it might be worth looking to see if 1) the clock can be opened and 2) if there is a broken solder joint on the board.

There is a thread on this XJ350 sub-forum from the past that described replacing the clock back-light. If I remember correctly, it does require a soldering iron to replace some sort of LED chip on the clock circuit board.

Good call--actually it is just an incandescent bulb! https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-bulb-133581/

My clock light packed up a couple of years ago, I did find out from the Forums it was possible to change the bulb but it was a time consuming job. I cheated though, the car was in the garage for something else and I got them to change the bulb.

Nice coverage for changing out the bulb.

Where else do you get such detailed information with pictures to readily fix such niggling problems? I wonder how much the dealer charges for this?
