Default Cd changer optical wiring for x358

Hello,
I'm new to the forums. I have a 2008 Jaguar XJ Super v8. It came with the Nav unit and a DVD player in the boot but no cd changer. I purchased a used one and need to install. I have seen quite a few threads with pictures of the optical wiring but none that show the wiring hookup for all 3 units together. The unit I purchased came with some optic fiber cables but I'm not sure if it is complete. Does anyone have photos of all 3 hooked together or the Jaguar mechanics diagram? Thanks, Steve

There is a thing called D2B wiring harness - it makes a loop of the signal that connects the devices in a chain. The signal goes from one device to the next, to the next etc. This chain can not be broken or the system would not work.

You need to extend the existing harness to support one more device in the loop. Here is an article describing how to modify the harness and add a connector:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9T...ka_a2go6IfYhBQ

Alternatively you can get a harness from ebay that has the required number of connectors. For example if you have 3 devices connected (1 female and 3 male connectors) you need a harness that supports 4 devices (this will have 5 connectors 1 female and 4 male).

In addition to the fiber optic connector you need to locate the small 3 pin connector for power to the CD changer.

Great. Thanks for the info. I think I understand how it works now. I'll give it a try and get back with you

Hi Trekker. You need to join components in correct order, as written on the D2B link lead. After all, it is worth encoding the presence of CDC as vehicle equipment, otherwise there will be errors related to the D2B network, or worse, errors in coding or diagnosing other modules operating on D2B network.

Default Optical loop success

Veffremov,
After seeing the link you attached I understood how the loop factor works. I got back in there today and rerouted the optical cables per the instructions on your link and SUCCESS, it all works. Now I have the Nav, Cd changer, radio, and rear dvd player all working perfectly. Thank you very much for the help and info. I have one other question. While I was doing all this I noticed a small white plug down in the well of the boot near the battery and the right rear tail light. I've attached a photo. Can you identify it? I was hoping it might be for a backup camera. My xj (x358) is a left hand drive.

Not a backup camera, these cars never had that. In the other thread where you posted "Are these wired for backup cameras?" I answered that this connector looks like what goes on the Transit isolation Relay, which is removed for original delivery of the car.

I'll have to look into adding this in my car (06 XJ8L). I just have navigation, no DVD or CDC, but would really love to add the CD Changer option.

Thanks for the posting. I've been trying to find the connector to add a cd changer to my 09 XJ* x358 for a few days, now I know why I couldn't locate it.

This is a helpful thread. I am interested in adding a CD changer to mine as well. It's an '08 XJ8L with nav and bluetooth. I found a VIN decoder on the forum and according to it my car is pre-wired for a CD changer. It also has a button on the head unit for it too. I was looking at some of the changers on eBay, but none of them come with wiring. If mine is pre-wired for a changer, do you think I could just plug and play? Thanks.

Hey Ryan,
As it was explained to me earlier in this thread, somewhere down the line you will need a D2B cable and connect your CD changer within a type of daisy chain setup. Veffremov attached this link : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9T...ka_a2go6IfYhBQ. It explains how to use and modify the D2B cable. I didn't understand the connections until I saw this. Also here are some pics that show some of the hook-ups.

trekker57, thank you so much! This is very helpful. The photos are really helpful too! With all of this info I am confident I can add a CD changer now.
