Default Check engine, DSC failure, Parking brake failure...etc

Well, I'm getting this gremlin now. Happened twice in 2 weeks. Funny, seems to happen when I hit a larger bump. Anyway, I got the limp mode, DSC, etc crap last night again. I disconnected the battery, and cleared it until I put it in gear. The trans thumped and the check engine light came on. It ran fine to make it home.

Decided to go to Advance Auto to have the codes read, but the scanner kept showing 'No Link'. Not sure what that is...

Went back home, remove the intake runner, cleaned the throttle body, checked/cleaned the connectors to the TB. The one 2-wire plug looks like it is taking some beating from the runner and heat from the motor. Wrapped it up with high heat tape.

Reassembled it and fired it up. Ran fine, check engine light off....????? Ran fine this morning to work, no issues.

I'm beginning to think that this 2-wire connector is the culprit, not the TB itself. I will do more digging this weekend.

Sounds like a failing battery.

Default Limp culprit

My 04 X350 started doing the limp mode shuffle, and I sprayed the TPS and pedal sensors (2 wire opposite the TPS) w/ contact cleaner, all to no avail. Finally bit the bullet on all new throttle body (Jaguar label, made in Japan) for $250 (ebay), but before I changed it out, I zip tied the 2 wire connector to its position because it did not snap on as it should, but just sort of slipped on. A week passed before my new TB arrived, and there were no incidents in the meantime. But instead of waiting to see how long it would take to go into limp mode again, I went ahead and changed out old TB. Just for insurance (or superstition) I re-installed zip tie to hold the small connector in place on the new unit. Been 2 weeks now, all quiet, perfect running. Not even a CEL giving P0101 MAF, which would come up randomly on a weekly basis, only to go away after 3-4 startups. There's definatly gremlins in and around my car's ECU, but a new TB seems to have cured some things without too large of an expense. As to tales of Jaguar pricing on these TBs, maybe Tata has seen fit to extend a little mercy on us by bringing down the price of a needed replacement TB. Nah, can't be.

Since I cleaned the TB and the 2-pin connector was cleaned/applied some dielectric grease, no issues...

Very common problem - you have TPS sensor failure. It starts intermittent and worsens with time. You would need to replace the throttle body as the sensor is not available separately. Search the forum - there are many threads on the same subject.

Just a warning: the 2 pin connector on the TB is very brittle so handle with care.

I have a 1991 Jaguar XJ-6 L6-4.0L. The engine turns over but the car will not start. a Mechanic claims he has replaced the fuel pump twice. I keep getting stranded everywhere, after a few hours or the next day, I go back abd start the car and drive home. ??

Thanks for the updates, Jim. It is a beauty and I know you're thrilled -- about what you THOUGHT you bought. Considering all stated by others, and your feelings, I too would recommend full refund, or replacement. The Dealer can shop available cars "like" yours or you could give them some acceptable variances in features.
Very best of luck, welcome to the forum, and we'll appreciate your updates.
