Default Climate controll fan on full all the time

Hi All,

My 2004 XJ8's X350 interior climate control fan only running on full.

You can change the fan speed bar, but the fan stays on full.

I have re-built & new replacement of the Control Module, but its not that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Andrew

I would take a guess it is the resistor unit that controls fan speeds. When they pack up they normally give up on the slower speeds first and then end up with just the fastest speed only.
We changed one on my daughters Citroen Picasso a while back and it sorted it. For the Citroen the genuine part from a Citroen garage was only about £28 or so. I just googled the problem and found numerous links to how to change it and where it was sited under the dashboard.
Might be worth looking at.

Thanks roviw,
But the X350 use's a Mosfet controlled by PWM out of the climate control computer.
No Resistor.
Many other car brands use the same module, but the only info I can find is if the Module die's, the fan stops.
So having the fan on full is a bit confusing

It is a fault with your fan controller, probably short due to conducting

paste touching a wire.

meirion1,

Do you mean the module behind the glovebox with the big aluminum heat sink, or the majic box behind the dashboard?

The module with the aluminium heat sink.

As you know this module is the speed controller and if there is a short

then this module is out of service and the fan runs at full speed only.

I speak from experience. LoL

They also fail such as to not operate the fan at all, as in my case. A new module fixed the problem.
