Clunk when backing into driveway
Hello!
My 2008 XJ has a clunk which comes from the front O/S (UK) when reversing at full left hand lock into my driveway.
The sound usually occurs as the wheel travels up the dropped curbstone.
All worn components in the front suspension were replaced during summer however this has not fixed the clunk.
There is no play detectable at the 9 and 3 or 12 and 6 positions of the roadwheel.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Possibly a fouling condition? I recently replaced control arms and, in the process, had to remove the air spring. I also replaced the lower shock mounting bolts with new ordered from Jag. I too had a clunk. Inspection by a Jag dealer revealed that the bolts were too long and were fouling the front lower control arm.
I experienced something similar in the past like what you're currently having. In fact, it occurred whenever I put my 1971 Pontiac Catalina in reverse, and tried to back the car up. What happened was that the bolts which were securing the converter to the flywheel were loose. Of course, this condition occurred regardless of which way the wheels were turned.

A good suggestion, however the issue was present before any suspension work took place.
I have checked the front suspension numerous times since and have not noticed anything fouling.
