Default Coil Pack for 2004 XJ8

After purchasing my 2004 XJ8 in British Racing Green, I have recently joined the Forum and have a question about the ignition coil packs as I plan to do a service including spark plugs which neither has ever been done and the car is a bit over 100k miles, so it is time. I purchased NGK plugs as recommended and wondering about other's thoughts regarding coil packs as NGK also offers these. I am leaving towards buying the NGK units to use for the service and they seem to have good ratings. Thoughts and opinions please!

Many thanks!

My best advice on the Jaguars XJ8's is that if they're working, don't fix them. In fact, I have a 2005 Jaguar XJ8L with around 103,500 miles on the odometer, and I don't intend on replacing the spark plugs.on the car unless a problem develops. The same analogy holds true regarding changing the transmission oil. If the vehicle is shifting all right, then there's no need at all to change the oil. Now, if you're going to replace the spark plugs, that would be fine as that would certainly fall under regular maintenance. I might caution you that I have come across a few horror stories in regards to their replacement in recent months so take special care if you do decide to replace them.. Replace the coil packs too? I would advise against it as you would basically be tossing money away.

After market Chinese coils with a lifetime warranty for less than a hundred dollars delivered caused me to put them on both mine, along with the spark plugs.
While plugs are out is a perfect opportunity, the old stock ones are still in the trunk.
With enough tools on board to change them if needed.
But after running the Chinese coils for a while, don't think i'll need them.

I'd change the plugs for the correct ones but keep the coils. By all means buy a spare good (expensive) one ready for when one appears bad and you can swap the good one in to see.

Don't buy a cheap one unless you like chasing faults painfully.

Generally i agree;
But just for sh-ts & giggles, with a lifetime warranty, price mentioned.
As well as number of sales, & rating.
Figured not much to loose here.
Happy so far, car still runs fine.
After another hundred thousand miles.
I'll buy another set.
