Dead passenger door lock
Hi all. As per title I have a dead passenger door lock.
No response from central locking, outside handle and inside handle don't do anything at all - doesnt seem to catch.
I had the odd issue before when the central locking wouldn't work on that door... but now nothing.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!

It sounds like it's double locked and failed in that position
Keep trying to open it and use dash button-you might be lucky
and it will save you a lot of aggravation.

You said "passenger door lock". I understand that as the front passenger lock, but I may be wrong, in which case the below will not apply:
Getting the door card off in situ will be a real pain, as the dashboard will also be in the way.
Have you tried unlocking with the key? I had the same issue just a few days ago with the lock on the drivers side. Using the remote or the dashboard button did not work, but fortunately the key worked.
I am now not double locking anymore until I get to replace the lock.
Good luck!
Best regards,
Thomas

Got door card partially loose.. enough to see down that the cable is still attached.
Nothing.. no clicks from the solenoid. Cable moves.. I can add tension and it all seems attached OK but nothing happens at the door lock end...
Completely at a loss.. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

This is where it gets really messy.
Remove door card and plastic moisture barrier and if you can't
do it without damaging them then obtain those items from scrapped vehicle beforehand
Cut through the metal next to the door lock and destroy the actuator in situ to release door.
It has been done and it will not be pretty.
take care not to damage the connection between door handle and actuator (manual locking)
Fit replacement actuator
You will find a Dremel or such like very useful

I have posted the same reply in your other thread. Here, I suppose that opening with the key did not work, right?
Sorry to say, but you cannot find a dedicated fuse because there isn't one.
I have never seen a car that has a separate fuse for each of the locks, only with one fuse for central locking, if not even a combined fuse for more than one electrical circuit.
According to the electrical guides ,all door latches are controlled by the rear electronic module (or REM), which is connected to various fuses, and in the cabin fuse box fuse no. F13 is labelled "Rear electronic module (REM), door locks", which means that if it is a fuse problem, no lock should work.
I have only looked into the owner's Handbook for the 2005MY (unfortunately I have not seen what year your XJR is, but the fuse location should be the same in most MYs),
Best regards,
Thomas

I remember that a guy in the UK Forum also had the problem with a lock stuck in double locking mode.
Here's the link to the thread:

It's a very long one, so you need to scroll through it, but I remember that that he also posted some pictures. I do not remember whether the defective lock was front or rear, though.
Maybe it helps.
Best regards,
Thomas

Maybe easier and safer to just disconnect the battery.
You will need the code to reset the radio
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I can only suggest something that I am not good at
ie Talk to people
Jaguar dealer mechs, independent mechs etc
I am guessing that you are in the UK and there is a highly
regarded Jag indy in Doncaster.
His name is Chris "Jaguar Specialists"
Good Luck and let us know how you get on
PS The root cause of the problem will be the
microswitch in the actuator so you can imagine
that the actual contacts inside are even more tiny
so when you can access the actuator try knocking it with a long drift
and a hammer.I know that these things can come to life briefly. Mine did!

I am glad you solved your issue! Could you, please post a link to the thread you're refferencing?
