Default Door lock problem

My 2006 XJ8L has developed a problem with the left front door lock. It will not lock or unlock using the fob. I can lock or unlock using the manual lever inside. If I lock or unlock it manually, the fob will not change its status. The other 3 doors work as they should.
I am presuming that either the electric solenoid actuator in that door has burned out, or else the linkage from the actuator has become stuck, perhaps from corrosion. Is this hard to trouble-shoot? Is it difficult to get the door interior trim panel off? Any advice appreciated. Thanks !

You need to take the door card off and have a look.
It's possible the cable is very tight since it locks then unlocks immediately.
Hidden screws are one behind chrome handle and one that screws upwards
below bottom door storage compartment.

If there is nothing obvious maybe clean pins on DDM in driver's door
in case pass. door lock not getting signal from fob.
Search this forum for details and pics re card removal.
BTW disconnect battery first.

The other day I tried the locks and the misbehaving one actually worked, but only briefly.. I cycled it a few times and then it quit working, and hasn't worked since. I am just getting myself psyched up for the task of taking the door panel (card) off.

Possible failing microswitch in the actuator.
