Default ECU

Hi, I own a 2008 Jaguar X type but unfortunately I can't use it.
I have a problem with the ECU, 7x43-12a650-ab. Water managed to attack the plug which caused a number of pins to drop out and now the car is unable to start. I bought a second hand replacement to have it reprogrammed but the Jaguar specialist told me he was unable to recode it due to security restrictions. Is there anywhere I can have the old ECU repaired or the replacement wiped so that it can be coded? I have only had the car 6 months and really need help getting it back on the road. Thanks, James

Have a look at the above thread. Not the same year as your car however problem is the same. Not good news tho.

@jackra_1 - Thanks for the information I'll make sure to read throught the thread.

@ JagV8 - 1. I used the ask a question feature of the forum and it automatically chose which forum.
2. Why would I need to post a location? It has zero relevance to the thread.

People who could repair it have a location.

If you don't want any suggests of appropriate repairers, fine.

Posting to where folks have the same vehicle can increase your odds of getting a helpful reply. While your issue is generic, you never stated how the ECU pins got wet. If it is an issue that occurs more frequently in an X-Type, readers of that thread that have experienced the issue could provide a source for your ECU repair.
