Electrical problem popped up.
2007 XJ8 VP 4.2L
Was going for a late night drive and noticed an electrical issue.
Also should I be using the electrical diagrams from the 2008 or 2006 model? There is no diagram for the 2007 model.
Basically there are certain conditions under which I cannot control the windows rolling up or down, they just won't respond. Any window from any door control switch including all of them on the driver window console.
After narrowing it down I concluded that they will not roll down or up as long as the interior lights are on. If a door is open, or the headlight switch is in any position but off, the windows will not budge. I can toggle the window lock switch and see the light go on and off so there is power to the module at least.
The headlights work fine, and after driving around a bit to see if it was a heat/moisture issue it did not go away everything else works electrically but the windows I waited a day and a bit to make this post instead of hitting the panick button and the problem has not gone away, and I also noticed that when going over bumps the lamps that illuminate the floor seem to dim or flicker a bit.
After reading through the forums and doing some of my own research I think I have a good idea that it's one of the earthing/grounding points or the battery, looking at the electrical diagrams there doesn't seem to be a reference to the 2007 model XJ so I can't say for sure, I am somewhat adept at electronics troubleshooting and fairly mechanically inclined.
I tried turning the stereo off (mines always on) and nothing changed.
I am at work now for a week and the car is parked so I won't have time to troubleshoot it just yet and wanted to come here for ideas.

I would recommend using the 2006 Electrical Guide unless you find any detail that does not seem to agree with your car, then check the 2008 manual to see if it matches.
Some similar issues were reported in the thread at the link below, and I did a review of the 2004/2005 schematics. My guess is that all the X350s are similar and perhaps some of the info will be helpful to you also.
