Ford Focus Door-lock Actuators
Dear Forum,
When I replaced my rear passenger door actuator with a used part I noticed that it was a Ford-stamped part with a Jaguar-marked plastic 'bracket' attached to it?
I believe it is the same part as a that for a Ford Focus?
I now need to replace the front passenger (LHD car) actuator and the cost of 'used' replacements and shipping from the (LHD) USA is prohibitive!
Does any Member have more detailed information that could allow me to source the Ford part and attach my existing 'Jaguar Bracket' to it, please?
Regards,
Ray

Whoa, if that is the case, that's good stuff to know!
Can you find a Ford part number on your actuator? That'll make searching much easier. Door lock actuators for Ford stuff are common and quite reasonably priced in the aftermarket in North America.
Armed with a part number, Rock Auto in the 'States or Amazon should work to get it to you quickly, if not reasonably.
Otherwise, find a US-based parts seller on eBay who is willing to use eBay's international shipping program/network to get it to you.
Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

The front door switches are different to the rear ones because
they have status switches integral to them and I think also that the driver
side switches are different to the passenger side.(as well as being the wrong hand)
the XJ door locks also have a proximity sensor integral to them
which a Ford Focus may not have.
Because your vehicle is LHD you can't get a replacement from the UK
which would have a reasonable price.
What are the symptoms of your driver's door lock?

Thanks Meirion1,
My fob will not lock any door, but will unlock them if they have been mechanically locked. It also releases the boot. If I mechanically lock at the driver's door, then all doors lock, bar the front passenger door?
There is no internal lever movement or sound at the front passenger door.

Do you mean that when you press the button on the fob to unlock doors only the boot also opens?
It is difficult to work out where the fault may be-part of the problem is what the effect of a faulty
status switch will have on the system.
Actually I have just realised that if you have a faulty
status switch you will get an alarm when you use the key which is a fault that I have.
All I can suggest is to clean the contacts on the DDM
When you lock doors with the key that command does not use the DDM
If the front passenger door unlocks but will not lock that suggests that the microswitch is still working
but they can work randomly if the switch is on the way out .

Thanks Meirion1,
No, when I try to lock using the fob, nothing happens. When I manually lock, everything bar the front passenger locks. When I unlock using either the key or the the fob, everything unlocks (albeit the passenger door is already unlocked). The boot also unlocks. If I press the dashboard lock-button, nothing happens.

I would guess maybe a bad connection on the DDM plus a faulty microswitch in the driver's door
which I can help with if you want to replace microswitch.
The status switches are integral in the locks and if they stop working ie wear out
I doubt that they can be repaired.
See circuit diagram in Electrical Guide.
