Default Is Harper Jaguar A Con?

Just painstakingly compiled a list of hoses for my car on the Harper site; came to $599 & change. Estimated shipping to Bellevue, WA is $299 & change. Does this make sense? Sounds fishy.

The site would not allow me to make an email inquiry & insists my VIN is invalid.

Thanks and best,

Steve S.

Just call ‘em.

I’ve seen insane shipping quotes from time to time. Often it’s a glitch with the shipping quote program.

Cheers
DD

Thanks, Doug. I ddin't see a number readily available, but I didn't look too hard since they offered an email option. When the site wouldn't take the VIN & then the email wouldn't go through, it no longer made sense. I will endeavor to find the number & call. Best, Steve S.

I always use Welsh Enterprises and Land Leaping, but the late ripped me off last time so I'll never spend a dime with them.

I'd had really good luck with Land Leaping a couple of times beating others pricing. Recently inquired about a wiring harness that I couldn't find listed in any online OEM Jaguar parts catalog because the linked drawings were all wrong. I searched for hours and hours. Finally contacted LL by email late that night, they found it and added it to their online catalog the next day, including the correct drawing. I thought that was pretty impressive. No doubt I'll need more Jaguar parts and will give them another go, but hopefully again without the issues you had.

What’s a “list of hoses”?

I like terrys jaguar for genuine jaguar or use the jag part numbers and search ebay. Time consuming at times. If you call terrys jag you can speak directly with a parts person and they help alot. Last time i replaced all the supercharger coolant hoses and a couple others she gave me a nice discount on the parts and shipping

Odd, I've used Harper a couple of times, no issues. Although, I confess I use them more for part # and drawing look-up, and order part(s) from others. For downright excellent sales n service I must admit FCP is one of the best.

One I forgot in my original post is https://www.blauparts.com. I did a total flush (dump pan & filter, fill, run, drain, refill) on my trans and use Ravenol 6hp; Blauparts price and shipping was excellent.

I've ordered just about all my OE parts from harper and they have been great. Best pricing out of the online dealers that I've found, helpful parts staff, and ship quickly.

As mentioned, call them to sort out the shipping.

Apologies all around, "Con" was not an appropriate word to use. In no way did Harper in any way coerce or try to influence me to do anything.

I went back & checked & I purchased the throttle body gasket from them a while back & the gasket was $23 & the shipping 15.57. Somehow, I didn't notice what a large percentage of the total it was. If they are shipping out of TN, then maybe the shipping is that much to WA.

Quadcammer, after your suggestion, thank you very much, I did try to call, but they were closed. I guess my rash response was prompted when the site didn't accept the vin and when I tried to email that didn't work either, so...

Anyhow, I will endeavor to sort this by giving them a call.

Thanks to all for the input!

Steve S.

If I have to buy OE parts, I've had the best luck with Harper. Shipping pricing is never great, but not out of line. Terry's would be my second choice.

Thanks paulz67,

Spoke with an excellent fellow at Harper & he clarified a hose question that I had and referred me to another helpful person in the online store who clarified the shipping. I then placed the order.

So, as I understand things, the $300 shipping was based on each piece & there are 14 of them. When all hoses arrive in 1 -2 days at their location, the parts will be consolidated and the actual shipping will be calculated. While I wouldn't hold him to it, the young fellow guestimated about 100 bucks.

With a little good luck, in about a week, I'll be getting close to taking her out for sea trials. I will not be putting any plastic back until I'm sure all is well, or, at least, well enough. A couple of suggestions have been made of other places to check for slight oil leaks, etc. I will check these and other things before I button her up too tightly. Thankfully, the weather is getting nice so I won't have to worry about a lot of water...

I have used Harper several times with no issues, their pricing is better than most other dealers and even some other locations on the web

When I purchased my 2013 xkr, I wanted the larger oem rear spoiler. I called everyone. Harper had the only one I could find. They did a great job on pricing and shipping. Always talk to whoever you buy from direct on the phone first.
