Default Headlights blinking

Does my 05 VDP have HID headlights. The L one blinks and occasionally goes out. And the dims are terrible. A gnome sitting on the hood with a candle would be as good. Air suspension has been removed. Could there be a problem with auto adjust because of that? Grounds have been checked.

There are two ground points, one behind each headlight that are aluminum studs and they corrode and literally come off in your hands.
Do a search, lots of posts on these. They are responsible for lots of electrical gremlins including dodgy lights.
If they aren't the cause of your lighting problems you need to attend to them anyway.
Solution is to drill new holes, and put in a couple of bolts to take the ground tabs

I had the same issue recently with the right headlight starting to work only occasionally and the left also sometimes flickering. In my case it was the HID ballast modules underneath the headlights that were on their way out, or in case of the right one had effectively passed away.
Exchange is rather easy when you follow the guides to pull off the front fender in this forum.
Just make sure if you have the older LAD5G module with 12 pins or the newer LAG5GL with 4 pins.
Jaguar changed that some time in the earlier models.
I found 2 used LAD5G modules on eBay, they are used in many different cars and should be no problem to find. LAD5GL, being the newer version, are always possible to use, you just may need an adapter from the 4-pin module to your 12-pin harness in case your car is originally equipped with the older version.
Exchange of both took around 2 hours altogether, and I was virtually blinded by the light after the change.

I'm still not sure if I have HID headlights. it seems they came both ways. Guess I'll have to do some disassembly. I did crank the dlm adjustment up a couple of turns but haven't driven at night yet. Grounds have been replaced and checked with ohmeter.

You should be able to easily tell if you have HIDs just by looking at the beam. Its a much whiter & brighter light than the Halogens fitted to the dims. Also I understand that cars that have HIDs are fitted with the headlamp washer jets.

Thanks Chris; Yeah my outer lights are much brighter and I do have washers. I think its the inner light that is blinking and going out, never seem to be able to catch it but it happens on dim. So only the brights are HID?

No! It is low beam that are HID. If both lows are dim it could be they have never been changed out and are dying. They do get awfully dim at end of life.

Sorry, my bad! The yellowy looking ones are the Halogen and the whiter, brighter ones are the HID...

the type of the lamps are printed onto the glas of the respective headlight. D1S for the dipped ones, H7 for the main beams in case you have the xenon assembly
