Default How do you replace the blade in the remote?

Cheers

Would anyone happen to have pics showing a disassembly of the front half of the remote?
I.e. if I wanted to buy this thing below and plug it into a remote keyfob...?

I’m interested in this as well. I have a cut blade on a key that’s not transmitter programmed to the car but was just thinking to transfer the nice new blade over to one of my other keys.

You have to pry open the case as it is glued together. Not nice, but unavoidable.

Theny ou are able to remove the blade assembly, which is basically the blade iteself and the release button. The blade itself is fixed to the rest via a splint that you can remove to replace the blade.

Then you reassemble the whole and glue the case back together.

I did it because the blade button on my remote did not have the growler, but unfortunately I did not take pictures.

There is a thread in the forum about the key and remote fobs, maybe thee are some pictures there.

Best regards,

Thomas

That's exactly why I am interested in the topic.

I suppose you mean this one: Jaguar Key Fob 2001 to 2009 Facts All You Need to Know FAQ

...still leaves some room for imagination about how the blade is fixed in the leaf-shaped thing.

I have been living under the impression you can program the transmitter/transponder using the SDD: Programming keys with SDD

Hi,

do you see the "black dot" ronthe right of the blade in the "leaf shaped thing"?

That's the splint I was referring to that fixes the blade. You need to either press it out, or you can hammer it out with a nail (or something similar) and hammer.

Best regards,

Thomas

Sort of a spring type rivet, to be driven out, & then back in.

It is a roll pin. Just tap it out, replace blade and refit. Done it on 2 of my keys. Easy peasy.
