iPhone or Aux jack for my 2004 XJR
What is the best aftermarket solution to allow me to play my digital music through the stock stereo system? Is there an available aux input on the back of the OEM head unit to patch into?
I would be interested in hearing solutions others have used and especially interested in photos of the install.
Thanks.

ACM is the closest to factory you can get, but they are hard to find anymore. Several posts on here and in the Audio/Video forum detailing different people's solutions, ranging form FM Modulator to complete overhaul of one's setup.
In my previous XJR, I had an FM Modulator already installed and I connected a bluetooth receiver to it, which worked fine for my needs. This should be the easiest, cheapest solution, and you could do it yourself or any competent stereo shop could install this.
In my current Super V8, I just got an ACM form someone else here on the board, but haven't installed it yet. If you have a SuperV8, or any model with the rear entertainment system, you could tap one of those inputs for direct to stereo connect. But the problem with this approach is that you have no control from the driver's seat - once the rear system takes over, it can only be controlled from the rear.

ACM = Audio Control Module (I think). There's plenty on here about them. Good luck finding one.
There's a thread on here (in AV forum, I believe) where a guy rigged an Aux input by tapping the leads to his in-dash CD player.
There's also a guy on here who's building his own homemade unit to sit in the D2B components stack in the trunk.
Other than that, an FM modulator is your safest and cheapest bet.

Just spoke with 2 different Jag Dealers and they can get the ACM but it's now $710...
yowsa!
Problem is everything I read online says the ACM C2C40513 will work on XJ's 2004 and newer...
Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module (ACM) Installation and Tips
But dealer says his computer says it will only work on cars whose last 6 digits of VIN begin with "M" or later and mine is a "G".
A lot of coin to spend with this level of ambiguity surrounding the likelihood of it actually working??
ugh.

Thats funny I literrally just called my local jaguar for you (me too) right before you posted that.
I was told that they can not source the part. AND that it will not work because the systems in the Jaguar are Analog and our newer phones are digital.
I do not know the truth in that statement though.
Here is how to install it.

Well I was just quoted $710 for the C2C 40513 ACM by 3 different Jag dealers parts departments in 3 different states here in the U.S> (California, Texas & Georgia).
I expressed my concern about the ACM working in my car and the parts guy said he would make a call to Jaguar and inquire. Called me back a couple of hours later and said they said it should work in my 2004 XJR.
so....looks like I will probably go ahead and order one....
(fingers crossed)

ACM works fine in the X350 XJ, i installed one in my XJR.
All it does it replace the CD changer & gives you USD/AUX/iPod inputs instead.
The audio system in the X350 is electronically the same as the S-Type and X-Type, I will never understand why Jag said the ACM does not work with the X350, because it does.
But you must buy the S-Type / X-Type one, there was another ACM for the X150 XK, this does use a different system and is not compatible.

Wait a minute! You said the ACM replaces the CD Changer? That doesn't make sense if it was a factory option. It shouldn't replace anything. Should just add functionality..
What exactly do you mea it replaces the CD changer?
The sound system in these cars was designed in 1999 or 2000, before iPods were a thing. So it was an afterthought.
Yes that's how it works.
If you turn on the ACM, the CD changer no longer functions.
If you turn off the ACM, the CD changer works again.
The ACM emulates the CD changer, you get presented with 6 "discs" and each disc button does different things.
Here's an example of using the USB stick (i don't use iPod/iPhone with ACM myself)
Folders on the USB are "albums" and the tracks are individual files in the folders. mp3's or whatever.
With the iPod it's a little different, you can select playlists only with the stock firmware, but it can be loaded with Mercedes firmware which allows you to select individual tracks. Via the screen / steering wheel.
The AUX inputs mean you can only control the volume via the screen / steering wheel.

A pretty smart guy with an S-Type came up with a pretty good solution. Here is a write-up and pics on his solution.

Very clever indeed, but I already have a custom Pro-Clip dash mount for my iPhone 6 (Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts*-*ProClip USA)
...and I am trying to avoid the FM modulator. So, it looks like the ACM will be the way to go.
