Default iPod Connectivity Options 2006 XJ8 L

Sorry if this has been covered already. Is there a way to connect an iPod to the stereo? I've read about the ACM but at 400 that seems expensive.

Other options out there?

I would LOVE to splice into the CD Changer wires for sound, and just control the ipod from the ipod. Unfortunately I can't figure this out in a 2005 XJR with navigation, which I presume you have also. There is some AI Net wire that apparently makes this tough, and the other posts with a solution were for older/other vehicles.

I'd love to know the answer to this too!

I've been thinking along the same lines, TLombard. My CD Changer died a few months back, and I'd like to pull it, pull the D2B interface off it, and figure out how to wire it to an IPod. In my dream world, the interface simply has left and right inputs plus power and control lines for changing tracks/discs, which wouldn't be needed, but bonus points for figuring out how to use to control an IPod.

This is what I did for an Ipod in my 06 XJR. Works and sounds great. Sound quality is slightly diminished (when compared to a wired connection, or a CD) using an FM transmitter, but if you have a good, clean blank frequency, with no bleed-over from other stations, it's not noticable.

Might give you some ideas to research.

BTW, I can't find this unit anymore, but there are others out there.

Where do you interface with the car's antenna for the FM transmitter? Was it already there, or did you tap into the car's antenna somewhere?

No, I used the antenna wire for the Satellite Radio module. Just bought an adapter from Radio Shack, unplugged the antenna wire from the Sat. module, re-routed the wire to the center console (plenty of wire BTW), and plugged it in.

Wow - the mod looks great. I think I am too scared to take the jag apart. Maybe because it is still new to me. 8 weeks today.

Any tips on tools and where to push or pull things?

Try here. You can download the accessory fitment manuals for what you want to disassemble. Other than that, just take it slow, and don't be afraid to ask questions here. Lots of knowledge here.

Thanks for the tips It was confusing at first since there are many guides but I downloaded a bunch and found the one for the Navigation System. That includes images of the removal process.

Now I just need the courage to take it apart. Maybe this weekend.

Thanks!

Like I said, just take it slow. If something won't come apart easily, don't force it. Probably just missed a screw or clip.

Jaguar, just like any other car company, loves to make things a little tricky.

I would like to do this, but don't feel confident about it. I tried the FM transmitter, but it doesn't work very well in my 07 XJ. The tape player option works well in my other cars, but I don't have a tape deck in the 07. Damn.

I found the ACM available on Jaguarparts.com for about $330 shipped. This the best deal I've found thus far so I pulled the trigger.

I also took a look at a pdf of the installation instructions...at first glance it appears really complicated only because the instructions themselves are not very informative. But after more careful inspection, it seems pretty easy if you can use a screwdriver.

I'll be installing it myself as soon as it arrives.
