Default I've deleted a rear bumper chrome and i love it :)

Well. Last week i was on a race track and there was an accident. I've slipped out of track and while i was spinning on a safety lane i've hit a wall with a rear bumper.
I was pretty lucky that the only damages was a bumper skin and one parking aid sensor. No other damages at all, except left chrome trim. So' ive made a decision...
Before a collison:

Right after an accident:

Some upskirt:

"New" old trim:

Job's done:

And i just LOVE a new look. Looking forward to do the same mod on a front bumper

It does give it a sinister look. Nice!

Blacked out bumper blades do look good on the black cars...

Nice repair and the look seems to go better with the theme of the car in black.

Looks stealth on my xjr6 it's all colour coded no chrome suits XjJR cars
On a completely different idea I backed the wife's jeep into my xj8 and moved the chrome trim
I was wondering do I have to pull the bumper to get access to the chrome strip

Hi MoscowLeaper,

Any tips for pulling the bumper skin/cover? I need to get at one of the middle parking sensors.

Thanks!

Don

That does look quite keen. I'm not sure how it'd look in mine as it's not the sharp black as yours is. Since seeing yours, I am considering a change to mine with an accent to the Slate. I just need to determine which it's going to be.

As a paint guy said, Midnight (it's mine colour) is NOT black, it is BLUE. But very dark and deep blue

Hi MoscoLeaper,

I've read that section of the Workshop Manual - I was just curious as to whether you'd run into anything unexpected or found any shortcuts.

Thanks!

Don

Nope, everything was just as described in WSM.
The only shortcut i've made - i didn't remove a floor mat, i've just got it up and fixed it in that position.

Looks Great!! I just lost this trim on the right front. The only ones I can find are chrome. What was done to the chrome finish to accept the paint?
Thanks,
Dave

It's not a paint, it's a vinyl.
