Default Keys stuck in ignition

I seem to have had a problem twice this weekend removing the key from the ignition. It doesn't seem to want to come out of the ACC position, and I end up having to restart the car and/or move the shift lever from P to D back to P and then shut it off again. Then it comes out. What could be causing this? Am I missing something?

Make sure you have it all the way in Park before turning it off.. I have found that if mine is not all the way to P and I shut it down I have to put my foot on the brake and cycle the transmission lever to N then back to P to get the key out..

This is definitely a possibility. I wonder if the little shift lever connection thing on the outside of the transmission that I keep hearing about is coming loose. I hear that those two screws can fall out easily!

I would almost guarantee the car is not in Park. Those two bolts holding the shift cable are loose or missing. Very easy to check and fix
