Exclamation Lugs too Tight!!!

Took the Jag in for an alignment, the next day I decided to replace the front rotors, and to my surprise the Lug nuts were to tight! While trying to remove them, I snapped off 4 of the 5 nuts from the drivers side wheel..WTF!! While I was pissed, that the shop used an impact wrench to tighten the nuts, I didn't panic. I searched through my tool box and found my 3/4 hole saw,and drilled them out. Good thing I had some extra lug nuts.

I have ordered some Toyota lug nuts in the meantime

You should call the shop and inquire about them replacing your lugs. The service manager should know what is going on there. I had a shop replace a center cap since they did not install it properly after some work. They were very cool about it.

Wheels don't come off for alignment. Those lug nuts have probably been rusting on there for quite some time. It's a common problem with these cars.

Rusted on was my first thought looking at the picture. One of our SUV’s had the wheels rusted to the hubs from running through water on the beach. Had to thump with a sledge to get the wheels broken loose.
The studs are soft steel. If the lugs are really hammered down with an impact they will start spinning and strip the stud. This has happened to me three times are Discount Tire. All on the XJR. Never on another one of our cars.

I always used a torque wrench to tighten my toyota lug nuts on my 2005 XJR and would not allow a shop to do it when replacing tires etc.

The Toyota lug nuts I used to replace the original Jaguar metal sheathed crap.

the original lugs are not that bad but the first time a monkey gets their hands on it it’s over

the cheap toyota lugs surface rust but they are idiot proof

I thought about that, but, decided to not use them anymore.

When I do my own work, I use a torque wrench as well

This kind of monkeys are everywhere. The same happened to my Subaru Forester in one of their dealership. It took 3' breaker bar and 6' pipe to loosen this up. Thanks it happened in my driveway when I got the flat. Just imagine if it would be middle of nowhere...
If you want something done write, do it yourself, always true..

Discount got me for the last time a month ago. Brought XJR in for one of the free lifetime balance and rotation. About two weeks later went to flush brake system. Saw a lug sticking out about an inch further than the other four on a rear wheel. Went to tighten and it spun freely. Also slide in and out about an inch.
The lug was cross threaded and when the monkey tried to drive down with impact it spun the stud. They pushed it in and left it like that. After pulling the other lugs, was finally able get the stud in a bind enough to back off the lug. Spent a couple days. Had to borrow an impact and set weigh on the cocked wheel. Tried cutting, could never get to the stud. A friend recommended to cut off the lug, but it just spun. I have replaced a front and rear stud already. Put a pair of Detroit Axle hubs on the front. Beveled the stud to get the normal Dorman in the rear. Ford uses Dorman studs. Some does Jaguar.
