Default minus 33 Celcius and restricted performance

Hey guys - went to start the car this morning in minus 33 (minus 41 with windchill) weather. I had the block heater on - it was reluctant but she started. However, a "restricted performance" warning came on (the first time ever). The car seems to drive OK. I;ve plugged the block heater back in.

I'm thinking some sensor somewhere is stuck in the cold, and when the weather warms up the problem will go away.

Is it too optimistic to think this?.

Default Update - It's all good!

The weather warmed up (for Canada) to about minus 13, and she started first time with no nasty messages!

Sounds like a weak battery.

No - I've got a brand new battery. Though ALL batteries are weak when it's this cold!

I would imagine if humans there had "Restricted Performance" indicators, they'd be lit as well!

They do. The nose turns bright red when exposed to cold. The backup system is the ears turning red.

And, if the toes turn black, you're in limp home mode.

I didn't check it: everything seemed OK later in the day.
