my 04 xjr been stting for 5 years with check engine light/ 32 codes
Hi everyone, my 04 black on black xjr been sitting for 5 years due to the front passenger side air strut not holding air. the air strut was $1800.00 from the dealer and my other option was coil springs, in the meanwhile I got busy in other things and by the time I got to it I bought a remanufactured air strut from RMT in florida, and had an old timer mechanic help me remove the old one and install the new one, the car is back on the road with a service engine light on, I took it to Oreilly and they said its got 32 codes , they cleared them and the next day check engine light is on, im gonna back track, I emptied 2 1/2 gallons of old gas from it by removing the gas filter and turning the ignition on and off many ,many times, then put new gas filter aftermarket, also changed the oil with aftermarket oil filter. filled the tank with super gas and added 2 bottles of injector cleaner, and im driving it around town, still on the same first refill. it doesn't have power and its got uh skip in it, and I didn't change the air filter yet.. also its a bit low on antifreeze.
the suspension is excellent now, with the new remanufactured strut and also I did remove the air compressor rebuilt the piston and changed the beads . It looks to me it 's gonna be a long process trouble shooting the codes and I have to buy a scanner, I know a lot of the members have already scanners, any suggestions what to buy for a scanner?

You may have better luck (and get a lot more sympathy!) posting in the forum for 2004 xjr's (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/) - unless you specifically want input from us X351 owners?

Clear them, fully charge the battery and drive the old gas out and fill with fresh. I wouldnt be concerned yet with the codes since the car has been sitting until you clear and start driving again and see what comes back. Actually just replace the battery if its at least 5 years old from sitting
