Default New, eyeing an 08 XJ8L

Hello, I am currently mulling over an 08 XJ8L with just under 43k on the clock. The car is IMMACUALTE and comes with an extended CPO from a Jag/RR/Audi dealer. I have lightly browsed and saw the suspension problems. How long do the factory shocks normally last before a rebuild? What is the regularly scheduled maintenance cost for such basics as oil, trans fluid, flush etc etc etc? Is oil change required at the dealer or can it be done at home to maintain warranty? Anything else I should be on the lookout for and special questions to ask?

I currently drive a Magnacharged 04 Cadillac CTS-V so this will be a severe drop off at the go fast pedal but it is mainly a new car for my wife so it wont be seeing any performance mods (I will have a new CTS-V in the not too distant future to fill the void).

The car will be a daily interstate driver, 45-64 miles round trip, but only days when both of us work. I may end up grapping a $1000 Jeep XJ for winter beater duties.

Thanks for the input!

So I drove the car and liked it. The salesman CLAIMS the airshocks are covered under the extended warrenty. That would be a first for me. Anyone know for sure?
Since this car isnt for me I can easily walk away from it. $36,900 with 43k miles +$2k for the extended warrenty that adds 32 months and 57k miles to the car as it sits. The price seems VERY good for the amount of car but it does lack the nav and adaptive cruise.

Wow, what a helpful and interactive forum and all this time I was thinking BMW drivers were the biggest douches in the automotive world.

Default The OP is from Kentucky...

Q: Do you know why murders in Kentucky are so difficult for police to solve?

A: There are no dental records and all the DNA matches.

LOL. This is not the Cadillac forum. This is the Jaguar forum. Jaguars are somewhat rare. And their owners are older, especially for the XJ model. So expect longer wait times when posting a question, instead of insulting forum members, continually. Moron.

The air shocks do not last long (some can go out as early as 30k miles) and can cost thousands of dollars to replace. SCHEDULED maintenance is not that bad--quotes at the dealer near me for 40k and 50k mile services were about $550 each. However, bet that most of your budget will be spent on unexpected repairs, not scheduled maintenance, even with an extended warranty.

BTW, not having the nav is a dealbreaker for me. Not having the NAV changes the whole layout of the center panel, and makes everything look archaic. I don't know if it's any more or less ergonomic, though.
