Default OBD Error Codes

The following comes from https://www.jaguarfortlauderdale.com...uble-codes.htm. I reformatted it to make it more readable.

Unlike some charts I have read, this one appears to have been written by a mechanic, not an engineer. It points to specific problems, although the term "wiring issue" could be expanded to point to specific wires (location, colour code, typical problem).

It would be very helpful if someone technical on this forum could take this list, put it into something like Wikipedia for cars, so each of us could add to each code when we encounter it. For example, where it says PCM failure, a photograph of the PCM location, the wires that go to it, how to get it out, and if it is sold by 3rd party vendors, where to buy it (as well as Ford equivalents, if applicable). Anyone with technical knowledge who could do this for us?

Thank you for taking time to compile this DTC list.

Perhaps one of the forum moderators can add it as a sticky to the X350/X358 forum.

As noted this is a list that was made by mechanics, in a dealership, of the most common failures they were seeing. My bet is that originally it was done to help each other out to diagnose these common failures for quicker turnaround.
I have yet to find a DTC list with every fault possible listed. My car can always come up with ones not in any list, including the official list on this site. It would be great to have one for all, including the hexadecimals that pop up fairly frequently.

Thanks x350

Of course P0420 and P0430 are the same fault for A and B banks.

There may be others too.

Those do not look like official Jaguar definitions and possible causes.

Hi x350,

Not to rain on your parade, but that is not a Jaguar-specific list of DTC definitions and possible causes. It's a generic list that appears in many places online.

For example, here's the same list on a Porsche dealership website:

https://www.porscheirvine.com/servic...uble-codes.htm

And at a MINI dealership website:

https://www.miniofthewoodlands.com/s...uble-codes.htm

And Bentley:

https://www.bentleynewportbeach.com/...uble-codes.htm

And Hyundai:

https://www.autonationhyundaiohare.c...uble-codes.htm

When working on Jaguars, it is always prudent to first consult the Jaguar factory service documentation, since Jaguar's own definitions and possible causes often differ from generic ones. It certainly doesn't hurt to consult other sources as well, but you may avoid wasted time by starting with Jaguar's recommendations. You can download one of the more complete versions of the X350 DTC Summaries manuals here:

Jaguar X350 DTC Summaries

Cheers,

Don

Very helpful. One thing I've learned though is the frustration when the link goes dead. So I went to http://www.jagrepair.com/DTCforms/X350_P_DTC_OBD_II.pdf and merged it into the generic list. Generic in red. I could not figure out how to upload it as a table, so I converted it to jpgs... 23 of them. Best read on a big-screen desktop PC.

It's too bad this forum cannot also have a Wikipedia-like application so we can build a knowledge base with the latest version on the main page, and previous contributions and talk on secondary pages. The problem with a forum is knowledge mixed with comments mixed with earlier versions.
