New owner of an '06 VDP and SO glad to have found this forum. You guys are so much more helpful than the Benz forum I'm also a member of.

I've gone through every thread and I've found a few similar issues, but none seem to be an exact match for what I'm experiencing.

When accelerating, there is an odd, uneven buffeting/whirring sound that seems to be coming from just outside the firewall. It seems to increase a bit in intensity/speed the more the throttle is pushed. It goes away entirely when not accelerating.

All other systems are fine, no warning lights, no weird smells, no hesitation whatsoever in acceleration. But it certainly sounds like something is not quite right.

Any ideas?

 

The chances are that it is the AC compressor. Some cars have a noisy one, mine does, so does my Audi A6. It's most noisy when accelerating from a stop. Nothing wrong there.
