A couple weeks ago my wife took the Jag out for the day and came back with a quarter sized dent on the top of the passenger rear door. Being that the car did not have a single ding or scratch on it I was pretty upset.
Had a paintless dent guy come out yesterday and it looks good as new! I was a little worried because of the aluminum body and have heard horror stories of guys that don't know what they're doing making it worse, but he was highly recommended and it was worth every penny. Just figured I'd let anyone that wasn't sure know it can be done on these cars. What was also nice is that he didnt have to remove any panels at all, went in through the top of the door with the window down, very impressive.
Not the greatest pictures, but you get the idea. Like it never happened.
My late, lamented ‘06 VDP, under its prior owner, was caught in a hail storm. A condition of purchase was to have all the dents removed. Every horizontal surface was dinged to one degree or another. They hired a real pro and the finish was like-new when done. Some of these folks can really work magic. Now, I’ll retreat and sniffle over not having that car any more.
I am going through a hailstorm recovery right now on my own Xj8. I have an insurance check for 2600 bucks to cover it, and the body shop guy who ran the estimate has every assurance it will be good as new. An awful lot of disassembly to do it, though, as the estimate includes removing the left headlights and front bumper to get inside the fender, and removing the sunroof and headliner to get to areas of the roof. Since my headliner is just starting to fail, I'm hoping I can pay for that repair, since the labor is already in the hail repair. We'll see.
It's encouraging to see a good result posted up! Thanks!
If they are good I'm sure it will come out great, best of luck. Hopefully you can get the headliner done while its apart anyway. That's one thing my car still needs, but its not too bad yet and doesnt bother me on a daily basis so it can wait.
I should have included that I covered the cost of a headliner repair when the car was off getting all the hail damage dealt with. good idea to get it out out of the way at the same time.
