PO308 Cylinder 8 misfire!
I have a 2004 XJ8 VDP which I recently bought and I love it! I also have a 2001 XK8 which I have worked on. This 4.2 looks nothing like the 4.0, and I need to remove plug #8, right at the back of course.
It looks as though the coil will be difficult to remove, looks like its under the fuel rail and that's something I do not want to mess with.
What is the easiest way to remove plug #8??
If this is a major job I will get my Indy to do it.
Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You're showing pictures of the fuel rail - not the coils.
Are you wanting to replace ignition coil or the injector?
For the coils - need to remove the plastic cover that says " Jaguar " on it, below you will find the ignition coils. You wont need to remove anything fuel related. You can get the coils out and spark plugs out, just little less room.

Have a look here for a how-to on plug 8. Your photos are of the fuel injectors rather than the ignition coils, you access the coils/plugs by popping off the plastic cover that has "Jaguar" written on it, the one to the right of the red oil fill cap in your last photo is the cover you're after.

SNG Barratt looks to have the coils at a sharper price; https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...7-d43fcbdb248e

The OEM coil is made by Airtex.

I am sorry, I did not remove the "Jaguar" covers and assume the plugs are underneath!!
And yes the pictures were the fuel rail as you stated.
This is what happens when you have a 73 yr old working on his Jags....
Many thanks for all your help and comments.

Just FYI the OEM coils are made by Denso, but are no longer manufactured. There have been members that have ordered the Airtex/Wells 5C1420 coils from Rock Auto in the past and have said they received FoMoCo branded coils.
I just ordered 8 Airtex/Wells 5C1420 this month from Rock Auto and they did not have any branding stamp on them. They seemed decently made and I installed them. They have worked and have taken away the misfire I had.
Here’s a picture of the stock Denso (right) and the Airtex/Wells (left):

I finally got around to replacing the spark plug and the ignition coil in cylinder 8 today and the car is running wonderful again!!
I had to remove part of the plastic box that was stopping me from removing the old coil but after that it was plain sailing.
I installed a Jaguar OEM part #AJ810445 Coil-on-plug from SNG Barratt spoke to Tony Lee, who was most helpful. They charged me $79.89 and gave me a 10% Jaguar Forum Discount. The coil did have FoMoCo stamped on it.
Thank you for all your help, it was very much appreciated...This Jaguar Forum "Rocks"!!!
