So. My first car was a Jaguar Sovereign (XJ40) and I've had many Jaguar since, after selling my latest Jaguar (Jaguar XF S Portfolio -11) I got caught up in the Land Rover world.
Anyways. I'll be looking at an XJR from 2005 with approx. 140.000 km on the odometer.
It hasn't been on the road very much for the last couple of years but it had a clear MOT just a couple of days ago. The current owner had it in is collection, along with an XKR among others, but decided to sell the newer cars.
It's supposed to have full service history and it's latest service was made two months ago,
So.
I know about the air suspension issues, but what else should I look for (besides the usual stuff to look out for on every car)
If I buy it should I replace the air suspension compressor, the thermostat and the battery "just in case"?
I hope it's a nice car because I really miss having a Jaguar.

Hi Daniel,
Overall our '04 XJR has been a great car with only a few issues. I replaced the air compressor piston ring with bagpipingandy's kit (very inexpensive) and aside from a slow intermittent leak in the front right shock that sometimes acts up in cold weather, the suspension has been fine. You will probably want to replace your piston ring too, but I doubt you will need a new compressor. I think most of the compressors that have been replaced could have been easily rebuilt.
In general, X350s have been reliable cars, with a few common problem areas. They're also achieving higher mileages now, so things like suspension bushes, various sensors, ignition coils, etc. are beginning to expire. See the thread below for things to be aware of:
I just bought this 2004 XJR a couple of weeks ago. fantastic condition 51,000 miles and was maintained by the local Jaguar dealer who printed off the previous owner's maintenance history. I am very happy with the car so far.
Other than tinting the windows (which I have done), the only other thing I would like to do is install the C2C40513 ACM kit to allow me to play my iPhone music through the sound system.
After tinting the windows...
