question
I have a new '08 XJR with under 1000 miles on it now...I do a lot of highway driving. The other day after pulling off the highway i got out of the car and noticed a ticking noise...almost like soft valvetrain noise...I turned it if and started it back up and the noise was gone. Not sure if this is normal...Anyone heard of this before? I don't want to take it to the dealer if i don't have to. Thanks!
If the sound seemed to be coming from the left side in front of the drivers(lhd) door it was probably the canister purge valve doing its job. The valve is mounted behind the wheel arch liner at the rear of the wheel well. It's covered with a sound absorbing liner but some valves are louder than others.
It does sound like it's coming from the left side ...thanks! Would you expect for it to go away once the car is turned off and then back on again? I am new to Jaguar and none of my previous cars did this...thanks again!
