Default Question about the AC system

Hello all,

So I just purchased a 2008 XJR, site unseen from our of state. The car looked spotless in the pictures. I am excited excited and can't wait to take delivery.

I had a 1985 xj6 and the air conditioner was less than stellar. Actuality that's an understatement.

My question is for those who own an x350 and x358. How is the air conditioner on this cars? Is it strong (blows hard) and cold enough for Texas heat?

Thank you for your responses.

Hi BlacXJRcat,

The A/C in our '04 X350 is excellent and has kept us nice and cool the past two summers, which reach temps in the upper 90s to low 100s with humidity at 80-100%. The only problem we had was failure of the Blower Control Module (very common), but I believe an '08 should have the revised version with longer heatsink fins that should be just fine.

Hope the car is just as nice as it looks in the photos and that you'll post some for us to enjoy once the car is delivered!

Cheers,

Don

Worked OK here in Virginia in 85-104 F, humidity from 50% to 90+ %.

Hard to tell what it CAN do unless you over-ride the automatics by punching the temp down below the sixties to 'Lo' - thereby asking for all it has.

Texas is .. Texas..

"Real" Texians keep a six-pack of cars in a corner of the drive-in steak-locker and just swap for a cold one when they warm up.

I live in Houston, and have an '06 XJ8L.... The air blows cold, in front and back seats. You'll be fine.

Yep, use mine regularly in 110 degree heat. It cool quickly and I always leave it on auto on 74 degrees.

If sitting in the sun, it takes a run on the freeway to cool down. I'm going to have it flushed and the drier and orifice valve replaced. Plus clean the condensers.

Please let us know how your flush works out. 2 weeks ago I spent a whole Saturday removing the dash to replace the expansion valve only to still have not so cold AC. I'm contemplating doing the save as you.
Thanks!

Well I am pleased to confirm that the A/C is excellent. The car was delivered yesterday and it was a hot day In Texas. The A/C and cooled seats complement each other nicely.
