Default Rear off side lock solenoid not working

Hello All,

I never realised I had a problem with my rear offside door not locking until somebody tried to get into the car last night!!
Anyhow, it's not working, all the other locks work fine.
Fortunately the alarm still operated as it should.
Is there something I should try first to isolate the problem or are there any fuses I can check?

Thanks in advance,

Gino.

When one of mine quit working, I had to replace it.

There is normally a tiny little switch inside that fails, but is not separately available, so the whole shebang has to be replaced. They are not hugely expensive, but much more than a stupid little switch !

Thanks guys. I took out the old solenoid tonight and tested it on the bench, it is definitely 'dead'. Ah well, looks like Ill have to find a replacement. In the mean time i disconnected the operating rod from the handle to the switch and put everything back together, the door can be opened from inside the car but the handle does nothing!!

You are in luck-you are in Manchester!

The failed component will be the microswitch in the lock and you will have

noticed that it says FORD on the lock!

I have replaced the microswitch but you will find it easier to replace the lock.

I know for a fact that an 05 Mondeo has the same lock. Mine cost 10 GBP used!

Locks from smaller Fords are a bit different.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi All,

I ended up ordering a new genuine Jaguar assembly which I think I got for a good price (about half of list price), part number C2C30697. All being well I will fit it this weekend.
My plan is to strip the old one down and see if I can repair it, if things go to plan I'll take pictures and post.
Thanks for all your help guys,
G
