Hello all, I am new owner of my first Jaguar. A 2003 XJ8. I am wanting to replace the seats with used stock as it seems far less than new upholstery. I am finding many options for the XJ8 from 2004 on, but almost nothing for 2003. Sources online say 2004 will not fit my 2003 while 1998 to 2003 will. The 2004 seats "look" identical. Is there something about the mount or wiring that makes them incompatible? Can they be made to fit somehow? Has anyone tried? Please don't respond telling me they are listed as a no fit. I am aware of that. I am hoping someone can tell me why or how they can be made to, since they sure look the same and are easy to find. Thanks all, and please keep in mind I am new to Jaguar ownership so feel free to over explain as if talking to a 5 year old LOL.

 

The seats are not identical between the cars to 2003 and the cars from 2004 on (Canadian and US model years), they are not even close (I have had both). I don't see how you can think they are the same because they are entirely different in shape, in padding and in general design (the 2004 onward seats being far more comfortable). The 2004-on car is an entirely different beast in every respect. But with regard to the mounting I cannot comment. They may well use the same mounting track - I just don't know, sorry.
