Default Reprogramming Idle Speed

Does anybody know if there's anyway to raise the idle from 600 to 650 or 700? For some reason, it was idling at 650 this morning and it felt really nice and a lot smoother. But it had returned to 600 by the end of the trip.

I can tell you what NOT to try: I placed a small slice of cardboard under the throttle body screw hoping for the same result. The idle went up for about 1/2 a mile before the computer corrected it and then threw a check engine lite to reward my efforts ;-)) I am almost resigned to live with it all, note: my 1976 Lincoln Mark IV ran smoother at an idle.... I guess it may be the way these cars age. I've had this particular car for over 4 years and it used to be so smooth at idle that you couldn't tell if it was on or not. It seems to be more of a harmonic vibration rather than an actual rough running engine, but according to my mechanic all the engine mounts and trans mounts are good. And like I said, just a difference of 50rpm smoothed it out considerably.

Yes!!! That's exactly it!!! Not a miss or stumble, sort of a harmonic vibration!!! I guess $90K doesn't buy perfection. ;-)). Brandon

Its still better than my '87 XJ6. The idle on those cars were terrible, even from brand new.
