Default Resetting service reminder message

I have a 2007 VDP. I changed the oil and I want to reset the service reminder message. I always change my oil early and often so I have never actually seen a service reminder message. Does it have one?

If so, how do I reset it? I have searched and searched on the web to no avail. I found one that involved pressing the rear fog light button, but as this is a US car there is no such button. I found instructions regarding a combination of pressing the trip button, the reset button and turning the key but it doesn't seem to work. I read it has to be done quickly so I did it over and over until I got really fast but still no luck. If someone can give me the definitive guide I'll print it out and nail it up on my garage wall for the next time. Thanks.

Oops, I discovered that I do in fact have a rear fog light switch. It is never foggy here so I never used it and therefore never noticed it.

So .... Does the 2007 actually have the service reminder feature? Do you reset it with the magic quick rear fog light button or the "reset" button? After I am sure in have the right procedure I'll try to get the timing sequence down. AND I'll write it down for next time.

Thanks.

There is no service reminder on the X350 cars. Service is yearly or at 10k miles whichever comes first.

Oh yes there is, on the Tdvi at least; mine shouted at me a few years ago 'Service due in xxxx miles'.

It took four or five goes to make the reset procedure work, you have to be very quick.

Thanks Patrick.

My VDP is an 07 so I think that makes it an x358. The first step of the procedure, is it the rear fog light button or the "reset" button on the same panel? Thanks for your help.

My 2008 XJ VDP, which is also a California ULEV car, does not have a service reminder. Interestingly, it is stated as one of the messages in the message center in the North America owner's manual, but I have gone through multiple oil change intervals and never had any reminder to reset.

Hmm, he must be a member of Partick Thistle Football Club, a section of which is "Junior Jags".

For the record, I have never seen a service reminder on my V6 X358. But then it's a Sunday driver and I only did 3000km (1800 miles) last year, but still need an annual service for mechanical warranty purposes.

But the really good news, is I've just found an insurance company (in NZ), who would insure it as a classic car, if I do less than 5000km/yr, for about $300 vs $900 (NZ of course). I've yet to follow it up, I had a mate enquire independently.

I have 3 cars and 1 driver. So the insurance has been peeing me off!

Thinking about it, it may be that it's only the Tdvi model (2.7 diesel, which was never marketed in North America) that has it.
