Shudder during braking
Hi maybewill,
If you feel a shimmy in the steering wheel, then one or both front rotors is warped. As meirion1 suggested, replace the fronts first and see if that cures all the pulsation and shimmy.
If you feel pulsation in the brake pedal but no shimmy in the steering wheel, it's probably one or both rear rotors.
Braking from higher speeds heats the rotors to higher temperatures, which exacerbates any rotor warpage.
If you feel a shudder at speeds above 40 mph even when you are not braking, suspect a problem with wheel balance or tire damage.
Cheers,
Don

If you only feel above 40 mph it may be the rotors are not warped very much. Depending on mileage on rotors I would have them turned. Here that is about 50.00.
If high mileage, over 50k on rotors I would just replace. Found mine on Rock Auto, paid about 120.00 for AC Delco. Looked and they have gone up. 120.00 will get a set of Raybestos. 150.00 for Bendix. Not sure if one is better than the other.
I would stick with known names.
